Bruce Mansion Buffalo Feed: My New Annual Event

I had a wonderful weekend as part of a community festival at the Bruce Mansion in
Waitsburg, WA. Where is Waitsburg? Well, Waitsburg is a small farming town, located in the foothills of the Blue Mountains; just miles from Walla Walla, WA.

The festival is centered around the Bruce Mansion, now a museum. The funding for this musuem is made from the family and it's community. Proceeds from the annual event go to paying the operating expenses of the museum. The community purchases a buffalo that will be barbequed and served up at an old fashion dinner gathering on the musuem grounds.
Everyone is invited.

I have been hearing about this event for years and had always wanted to take part as a vendor but the vendor list is limited to invitation only. This year, I just got lucky and blessed by knowing two such friends to make the referral and was able to be accepted into this event. Now, I am twice blessed by being invited back again next year. I couldn't be happier.

Great event, great people and money goes to a good cause.

The purchase of the meal that not only includes buffalo but also, corn on the cob, mash potatoes and other side dishes for only $5.00 a plate (full plate, took me a whole hour to eat just one plate)is just the beginning of the enjoyment and fun surrounding this beautiful building and it's grounds. The local people are very friendly and it is quite easy to strike up a conversation while enjoy the music and food.

This festival include a handful of wonderful local craftsperson selling handmade products; along with antiques. Other fun things includes a period clothing fashion show, antique car show and bluegrass/fiddle bands. A local church holds Sunday services on grounds prior to festival opening. Ice cream and old fashion root beer floats are just some of the refreshments after the dinner itself.

Nice drive, beautiful scenery on the way, don't miss this one for a Sunday drive. Held annually the 3rd Sunday in September.
